AARC — AARC Clinical Practice Guideline: Spontaneous Breathing Trials for Liberation From Adult Mechanical Ventilation
American Association for Respiratory Care, 2024
For adult ventilator liberation, an RSBI is not required to determine readiness for an SBT; SBTs may be performed with or without low-level pressure support; use a standardized daily SBT process; and do not increase FiO2 solely for the SBT.
