Who this covers

ICU Knowledge Map is an independent educational project for ICU learners and clinicians. This policy covers the ICU Knowledge Map website and the ICU Knowledge Map mobile app (ICU KM).

What we collect

Account details: your email address and a password (stored only as a hash by our authentication provider). You can browse a preview of the content without an account.

Learning data, if you sign in: topics and lessons completed, bookmarks, question attempts and scores, flashcard progress, clinical-case history, and the results of exam, ECG and imaging practice sessions. This is how your progress syncs between devices.

Session records: a record of which device session is currently active on your account, used to prevent one account being used in several places at once.

Reports you send: if you use Report an error, we receive your message, the screen or page you were on, the app version, device model and operating-system version, and your email address as a reply address if you are signed in.

Website analytics (website only): page views and a small set of feature events such as which topic was opened. We do not record sessions or capture clicks or typed text.

What we do not collect

The mobile app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone input, or an advertising identifier. We do not collect any patient information, and you should never enter any into the app.

How we use it

To provide the service: signing you in, saving your progress, and running practice sessions. To improve the content: question-attempt events are aggregated to find questions that are unusually easy, difficult or poorly discriminating; individual learners are not identified in that analysis. To respond to the reports you send us.

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Who processes it

We use a small number of service providers to run the product: Supabase (authentication and database), Vercel (hosting), PostHog (website analytics), and an email delivery service to receive reports. They process data only to provide those services.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections. In the mobile app your sign-in session is kept in the device's secure storage. Access to your learning data is restricted to your own account.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account and learning data until you delete it. You can delete your account at any time: in the mobile app go to Settings, then Delete account; on the website open the Delete account page. Deleting your account permanently removes your sign-in and all of your learning data. This cannot be undone.

Error reports are kept so we can fix the content, but once your account is deleted they are no longer linked to you.

Who this is for

ICU Knowledge Map is intended for adults, including medical students, nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals. It is not directed at children.

Changes and contact

If we change what we collect we will update this page and the date below. For privacy questions or to ask for your data to be removed, email iculearningplatform@gmail.com, or use Report an error in the app or on the website and choose Other.
