WHO/FIGO/ICM PPH 2025 — Consolidated guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of postpartum haemorrhage
WHO / FIGO / ICM, 2025
Use objective blood-loss assessment and initiate rapid treatment when postpartum hemorrhage is recognized, including the MOTIVE bundle: uterine massage, oxytocic therapy, tranexamic acid, intravenous fluids, vaginal/genital-tract examination, and escalation of care. The guideline supports earlier action at measured blood loss >=500 mL, or >=300 mL with abnormal hemodynamic signs.
Clinical Context & Relevant Topics (3)
Disease ReferenceMaternal physiology, preeclampsia/eclampsia, HELLP vs AFLP, postpartum hemorrhage (MTP/TXA), peripartum cardiomyopathy, and arrest.
The trauma lethal diamond (hypothermia, acidosis, coagulopathy, hypocalcemia), 1:1:1 massive transfusion (PROPPR trial), early TXA (CRASH-2), and TEG/ROTEM algorithms.
Patient-specific RBC transfusion thresholds, current platelet/procedural thresholds, plasma/cryoprecipitate use, and the TRALI vs TACO diagnostic matrix.
