SIS — SIS 2024 management of intra-abdominal infection

Source control and risk-adjusted antimicrobial therapy are central. Four days after adequate control is supported for many selected patients; SIS separately suggests limiting treatment to eight days in critically ill postoperative intra-abdominal infection. Reassess persistent infection and source control rather than automatically extending therapy. The IDSA 2024 diagnostic update is not a substitute for this treatment guideline.
