Targeted temperature management after cardiac arrest
Arrich J, Holzer M, Havel C, et al., 2023 · 13 studies included
Summary
Cochrane systematic review and meta-analysis of 13 randomized clinical trials (n=4,249) comparing targeted hypothermia (32-34°C) with normothermia or fever prevention in adults resuscitated from cardiac arrest.
Conclusion
Targeted hypothermia (32-34°C) does not improve survival (RR 0.97, 95% CI 0.90 to 1.04) or favorable neurological outcome (RR 0.99, 95% CI 0.89 to 1.09) compared with actively maintained normothermia (36.5-37.7°C), but increases the risk of serious arrhythmias.
