Comparison of the Safety and Efficacy of Remimazolam for Sedation in Adults Undergoing Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
Lee S et al., 2026 · 16 studies included
Summary
Sixteen randomized trials, 2,325 adults undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy; comparators included propofol, midazolam and dexmedetomidine.
Conclusion
Pooled respiratory-depression RR was 0.51 (95% CI 0.36–0.73) and hypotension RR 0.50 (0.34–0.73). Sedation success did not clearly differ. Mixed comparators, procedural definitions and uncertain representation of unstable ICU patients limit applicability; this does not establish a universal preferred ICU sedative. This abstract-level synthesis does not establish study-level risk of bias or applicability to unstable ICU patients.
